The following statement is submitted by the Students’ Union and the Doctoral Student Council of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music on account of the recent events concerning the University of Theatre and Film Arts (SZFE).

 

We are deeply concerned about the current circumstances, as we have been closely monitoring the situation regarding the SZFE. We have been continuously assuring the Students’ Union of the SZFE of our support from the very beginning. We would like to express our solidarity and sympathy towards the students of the SZFE.

 

Every member of the academy that has reached out to us in reference to any acts of solidarity will receive the continued support of the Students’ Union and the Doctoral Student Council of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, as we were profoundly moved by the events that took place yesterday. Every peaceful form of opinion expression will have our full support.

 

As regards the conference taking place on Tuesday, initiated by the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference and the National Union of Students in Hungary (HÖOK), we encourage all involved parties to engage in constructive dialogue, as we believe that to be the key to moving forward.

 

This statement is solely representative of the opinion of the student body.
